Rossignol & Vincenti - Book Review

“Bouddhisme & Capitalisme: pour un capitalisme compassionnel” is an inspirational must read! Today’s capitalist societies are in need of an overhaul. Western economies are driven by the desire to create never-ending wealth, and consumerism. The majority of people are overworked and under paid. Furthermore, divisions between the richest and poorest in society are widening. Individualism rather than collectivism has come to dominate society. That sense of community and helping others seems to have disappeared. These are all ‘normal’ components of today’s society. This book is like a breath of fresh air. It helps readers to take a step back and consider what really matters in life: compassion for others, friendship and love. Yes, we do need money to live, but not in such huge quantities as people think. Money is not the route of all happiness. It comes from within ourselves. In today’s society we need to strike a better balance. This book described how capitalism and Buddhism can work together. The author writes with passion and everything written is incredibly believable. I didn’t want to put the book down!
